ABOUT THIS MODULE

The MPAA is responsible of issuing the ratings we see in a movie - G, PG, PG-13, R, and NC-17. The rating your film receives has a direct impact on the willingness of distributors to pick-up your film, and your film's revenue potential. In this module, you will learn how the MPAA works, and how you can best prepare for a favorable rating.

IN THIS MODULE

  • 14:09 video that walks you through the inner workings and function of the MPAA
  • Illustrated companion guide

LEARN

  • What is the MPAA?
  • How a film rating can affect the revenue potential of your movie
  • The process of getting a film rated
  • The cost of film rating
  • How to appeal a rating
The videos are a big leap forward for contemporary classroom videos, utilizing clean greenscreen, working professionals and 16:9. The film is well-paced and will be a great addition to classroom instruction. It is designed and constructed in ways both interesting and accessible to student filmmakers. I hope to utilize the material in my classroom!”
